The scholarship program for Il Circolo, Florida incorporates the true meaning of its mission statement, "To preserve and promote the Italian culture through education, art and music.” What better way to perform this than by fostering education of our young people?
Scholarships range from $500 to $2,500.
Il Circolo offers the following scholarships:
- Il Circolo Heritage Scholarship

CRITERIA
To be considered for an Il Circolo Heritage scholarship or the Cardia Family Scholarship, a student must meet the following criteria:
- Be Italian American. to be considered “Italian American,” the student must have at least one ancestor who has immigrated to the U.S. from Italy.
- Be a Florida resident;
- Be a United States citizen or permanent resident alien.
- Be a member of Il Circolo or have a parent, guardian, or grandparent who is a member of Il Circolo. (Not a member? Visit our "JOIN US" page to join or renew your membership today!)
- Be enrolled or accepted in a U.S. accredited institution of higher education for the current year’s Fall semester. This way high school students in their last year may apply.
- Have a grade-point average of at least 3.5 out of 4.0 or the equivalent.
Each scholarship award can only cover expenses directly related to study in higher education such as tuition and university-provided room and board. Scholarship funds not used during one academic year are not transferable to the following academic year.
Unsuccessful scholarship applicants and can and are encouraged to reapply in subsequent years.
Il Circolo’s requirements for the application to be considered complete and eligible for consideration are:
An Active Il Circolo membership either in the name of the applicant, a parent/guardian or a grandparentCompleted on-line application form
Recent transcripts, either official or unofficial
One letter of recommendation

Students applying for need-based scholarships will be required to upload their FAFSA Student Aid Report (SAR). Need-based applications are given priority.

Teachers in High schools and institutions of higher learning in the State of Florida are invited to apply for Italian language program assistance. Promising new programs and established programs that enjoy the support from their institutions are given precedence.
Applicants should provide:
- A statement about the need for the specific request
- A statement from a superior indicating institutional support of the program or initiative;
- A 5-year plan including a clear indication of current and projected numbers.

INSTITUTIONAL Support recipients have included:
· Florida Atlantic University: Italian language instructional support (Fall 1986-Spring 1993)
· Florida Atlantic University: study abroad scholarship support for summer programs in Florence, Orvieto, and Venice (2002-present)
· Florida Atlantic University: Department of Music
INDIVIDUAL board members have also contributed to Florida Atlantic University’s Italian Program:
· Mrs. Connie De Marco: seed money for The Connie De Marco Distinguished Lecture in Italian Studies;
· Kay and Al Marzelli: funding for technical support for the first course in Italian cinema in the Florida State University System
· Jane Marzelli-Smith: general Italian program support and Orvieto Humanities Study Center Initiative support
· Sally Valenti: The Pasquale Valenti lecture in New Italian Cinema
